How It's Made

I have been writing Abigail Black Wrote a Book in public and private for a few years now as a curiosity rather than a novel. So far, I had not found exactly the right way to share this story with the world. Public posting of rough pieces to start. I experimented with Twine which is an AMAZING program for anyone who wants to create an interactive story, but it wasn't quite visual enough, and the investment in learning how to make it more visual took away from my ability to bring the story to life. If you're getting started making games or narrative experiences, I highly recommend experimenting with Twine. I have a few times.
Then I came across Fungus. Fungus is a free visual add on for Unity 3D. Fungus lets you create visual novel, visual storys and an amazing number of games in a clean visual way that really appeals to me. It's simple to understand and well documented with youtube videos. (There's also a neat udemy course that goes into more depth and I found well worth my time.) If you've got a visual bent, this might be something worth learning more about. Unity and Fungus are free, and free is certainly a way to lower the ladder and let in designers who might not be able to reach high enough for big budget productions but still have an important story to tell. I support this attitude. I'm going to try and talk more about my process and suggestions on how you can use what I've learned in your own stories, but that's time permitting.
